Intergrative Health Practice
There is a revolution in the health care field. My practice strives to be at the cutting edge of this movement; integrating the knowledge of 20 years of Western medical training with the deep wisdom of the Ancient holistic practice of Ayurveda (Yogic Medicine).

At the Sonoma Ayurvedic Wellness Center we incorporate herbal medicine, instruction on lifestyle, diet, yoga, meditation and other practices to restore balance and promote healing.   We assess your individual mind-body type (Dosha), target areas of imbalance and then help you implement changes.   Ayurveda is a holistic medicine with a great wealth of knowledge that has just begun to be explored in the west.

I have been practicing medicine in major Bay Area hospitals for more than a decade.  After studying Ayurveda with Deepak Chopra, Dr. Vasant Lad and at the California College of Ayurveda I now incorporate these principles into a holistic practice for my patients.

If you suffer from a medical condition or just want more balance and clarity to prevent disease, Ayurveda has much to offer you.

Douglas O'Brien (Physician Assistant & Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist)

I became fascinated with Ayurveda initially studying with Deepak Chopra MD and David Simon MD at the Chopra Center for Well Being in San Diego.  I then trained to become a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist at the California College of Ayurvda as well as with other Ayurvedic doctors.
I have worked in the healthcare field since 1980 mostly as a Physician Assistant and continue to work as a Emergency Practitioner at Marin General Hospital Emergency Department.  I received a BS degree in Human Biology at San Diego State University, and received my Medical training to become a Physician Assistant at Drew University in Los Angeles where I also earned a BS degree in Public Health.
My practice consist of treating chronic health conditions as well as helping patients with their general state of well being.  This is done by assessing their personal constitution and the areas of imbalance, then formulating a personal treatment plan using many of the above mentioned  therapies.
